About me

Matthijs van Loon is a MSc graduation student at the Faculty of Architecture at the TU Delft, the Netherlands. This weblog was created as a tool for feedback and comment on his graduation project. He is graduating within the Explorelab, which is a graduation studio at the architecture faculty with a slightly different approach as the normal graduation studios. Within the Explorelab students follow their fascination for a certain issue, do research and produce a graduation project with a lot of academical freedom. (To know more about explorelab, click here)

The graduation project is on the development of a smaller scale city in the inlands of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The first part of the graduation project consists of a research thesis. During this research the city will be analyzed, and a set of rules will be developed to let the city grow naturally without it losing it´s living qualities.

The second part is the design part in which a public building will be designed with a mixed, cultural program which could function as an engine for further city development and add to the rise of a new own identity in the city by functioning as an engine and icon .

Dag Matthijs,
Succes ermee!

groet
Rob Schram – Eindhoven
